A Good Soldier of Jesus Christ - 3

How to contend (spiritual battle) lawfully: We cannot bend the rules.

1. The Word of God (the sword of the Spirit - discerns thoughts and attitudes - exposes what is beneath the surface) – we need to know the truth of God’s Word so we won’t believe the lies of Satan

2. Prayer (direct lifeline to God – a formidable weapon that can obliterate spiritual strong holds and it can affect a change in the unseen realm) – when we pray, we change the spiritual atmosphere

3. Faith (is a weapon, a shield- essential for fortifying us against the enemy’s attacks and empowers us to triumph over the worldly challenges that are against us) – we can withstand the attacks of the enemy to protect ourselves to be able to be in the offensive not just stand in the defensive

4. Invoke the name and blood of Jesus (the blood of Jesus Christ holds unmatched power, source of redemption and forgiveness) – offers believers a decisive victory over all of the adversaries that contend against us

5. Praise and worship (powerful weapon, publicly proclaiming in front of your enemies that they will succumb to the power of God) – shows that we put our complete trust in God and He will contend for us

6. The truth (belt of truth, serves as a weapon to dismantle the falsehoods that stand against the knowledge of God) – recognize that our struggles are spiritual in nature and demands a reliance upon God and His power and on the weapons He has given us
